Gordes
On the way back from Roussillon, take the magnificent route through Malemort, Venasque and Sénanque that crosses the Nesque Gorges and stop off at Gordes. This village, perched on top of a hill, is in fact one of the most beautiful villages of France, just like Baux de Provence

Dominated by its fortress (from the medieval and Renaissance eras) and its church, the cobbled streets thread their way between the tall houses. Between the archways, doors and narrow passageways, they reveal marvellous panoramas over the Luberon.

On its territory, Gordes possesses the Abbaye de Sénanque monastery, still inhabited by a community of monks. A precious witness to primitive Cistercian architecture (12th century), it is magnificent to visit, especially when the lavender is in bloom.
