Since 1951, the Tour de France has regularly passed through the region for one of the most beautiful climbs of the "the Great Loop": the Mont Ventoux.

Amongst the great names that have won fame in the Ventoux, we can quote Raymond Poulidor in 1965, Eddy Merckx in 1970, Bernard Thévenet in 1972, Marco Pantani in 2000 and Richard Virenque in 2002.
