A citadel thought to be invincible, perched on its precipitous rock, Venasque boasts about being one of the most beautiful villages in France.

A municipal by-law of 1967 stipulates that it is impossible to modify its architecture and any construction that is demolished should be identically rebuilt!  

Its Baptistry (4th century), built on the remains of a Roman temple, has been classified Monument Historique just like the Romanesque Notre-Dame church and the three Sarracen towers. A visit that we thoroughly recommend.
